Our 2020 Roundup and Eco New Years Resolutions for 2021

What a year! Definitely not the one we expected or hoped for, but we’re determined to remind ourselves of the highlights and all that we managed to achieve in spite of challenging circumstances.

Looking back at our Eco New Year’s Resolutions from last year, we’re pleased that we managed to stay on track and join the terracycle movement and create our eco brand directory. We also achieved a lot that we weren’t expecting, from partnering with some of our favourite brands to taking more accountability for our carbon footprint.

Here’s a little round-up of our 2020:

We raised over £2,000 for charities!

The launch of our charity collaboration with Paintings for Oakley last December has allowed us to donate over £2,000 to Sands Charity. Alongside this, we’ve also made donations to Stroud Food Bank and NHS Charities Together during the year. Our charity collaboration has now sold out, but we’re starting the search for our next one! If you’re an independent artist or designer and would like to work with us on raising money for a charity of your choice, please get in touch.

We’ve offset over 10,000kg of carbon dioxide with The World Land Trust

This year we proudly partnered with the World Land Trust to help protect rainforests and reduce the carbon emissions in our packaging. We are proud to say that all of our new branded packaging, and collaborations, are all carbon balanced from tree to door with the World Land Trust. And this is just the start! We’ve also joined Eden Project’s The Planet Mark to help us truly understand our carbon footprint and be accountable for making positive changes both as a business and as individuals to reduce our impact on the planet. Keep your eyes on us in 2021 as we’ll be talking much more about this as we begin our journey.

We’ve collaborated with some iconic British brands

We are so proud to be working with some of our much loved and looked up to British brands like Emma Bridgewater, Cath Kidston and the National Trust. We’ve also been lucky enough to collaborate with fellow female-led Cotswolds friends Jelly Armchair, and to work on exclusive ranges for Chillys and The Conran Shop. Hopefully by working with these brilliant brands we’re spreading the plastic-free message further and wider than ever before.

We launched lots of exciting new products

With all of the challenges that 2020 bought, we’re so proud of our brilliant workshop team for continuing to work safely and at-a-distance to hand make our beeswax wraps and launch lots of exciting new products! We created our DIY make-your-own beeswax wrap kits and lots of exciting and eco-friendly gift bundles that we’ll be continuing all year round (as they make great birthday presents too!).

We rebranded and built a new website

This was a big goal that has been on the horizon for some time, and we’re so pleased that we managed to pull it off! Our new look feels so much more us, and hopefully our website makes it easier to find our products, understand their benefits, and explore the world of plastic-free living.

As always, we like to set ourselves goals and challenges for the year ahead too. After a rollercoaster of a year, we’re going to be a little kinder to ourselves and focus on a few things which we feel will help to make a big difference:

Joining The Planet Mark is just the beginning, we now need to work with them to set ourselves targets to reduce our carbon footprint as a business and as individuals, and work hard to stick to them!

  • Continue to create products that help to reduce waste, look after our planet, and share the plastic-free message

We’ve got lots of exciting ideas up our sleeves that we think you’ll love, so keep your eyes peeled!

  • Develop our platform to help educate and inspire people, and help other businesses become more accountable for their impact on the planet.

We are absolutely not experts and have a lot of learning and a long way to go ourselves, but we want to share our knowledge, insights and learning with individuals and businesses to try to encourage positive change. We’re also going to be learning more ourselves, through our partnership with The Planet Mark and taking the time to join the Carbon Literacy Project which has been on our list for a while.
